Heifetz in his electric
car, May 26, 1976.
Heifetz had many interests and passions. Among them was
his belief in the viability of the electric car. He had
a $2000 Renault Dauphine converted to battery operation
in 1967 at a cost of $5500. He also lobbied on behalf of
a national 911 emergency phone system, helped create the
American Guild of Musical Artists, and lent his support
to a number of humanitarian causes.
